PHCPPros: What is your role in the PHCP industry?
Garside: I’m the CEO of Power Selling Pros, the company contractors use to turn their customer service department into a profit center.
PHCPPros: How and why did you decide to enter a career in the PHCP industry?
Garside: In 2015, after completing two years of missionary service, I was approached by Power Selling Pros about becoming a CSR coach. I took them up on the offer and have been in the industry ever since!
PHCPPros: What have been some of your career highlights so far?
Garside: In coaching, the highlights mount to an endless degree — CSRs finally getting fulfillment from their work, watching them get complimented by customers, and seeing the monetary outcome of improved performance. I’ll never forget a coaching session with a CSR manager who ended the call saying that she finally had the perspective she needed to be great at her job. Or talking to a CSR who was performing at the highest level of his career after implementing everything we talk about.
PHCPPros: Are you affiliated with any groups and organizations in the PHCP industry?
Garside: Yes. We’re members of Service RoundTable, Neighborly, Lennox Partners, and Carrier Partners, along with several other groups in the industry.
PHCPPros: Do you have any mentors in the PHCP industry or otherwise?
Garside: Yes. Brigham Dickinson, the founder of Power Selling Pros, has been a mentor to me for many years. I also admire and look up to guys like Stephen Dale, Josh Kelly, Tersh Blissett, and, above all, our customers. Customers with needs are any business person’s best mentors.
PHCPPros: Do you consider yourself a mentor?
Garside: Yes. I’ve been coaching CSRs and their leaders in home service businesses across the country for seven years. I love to help companies go from average to extraordinary with their customer service experience.
PHCPPros: What does it mean for you to be featured as a PHCP Millennial on The Move?
Garside: The trades are underserved. It’s annoying to watch bloated Silicon Valley companies rake in talent while the trades — the very people who make a functioning society possible — get overlooked by potential talent. It’s a great honor for me to help the trades in becoming a better, more attractive career destination for up-and-coming talent. You can build the life you want and earn the money you want in this industry.
